Holy Orders

Through the sacrament of holy orders, Christ configures certain men to himself, giving them the authority to minister in his name as deacons, priests, and bishops. "Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to his apostles continues to be exercised in the Church until the end of time" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1536).
